History on vehicles
In todays market of high end collector cars, proven history is critical to value. Documenting a car is as critical and needs to be as detailed as getting the car correct in restoring it. Letters from each owner. Bills of sale in ownership. Pictures from previous owners. Over time these cars get modified if they were raced do to race rules and safety requirements.
On street cars. Most were turned into day 2 cars when new. wheels and tires changed, exhaust systems, engine modifications for better performance.
If it can be proven a car is one of how ever many were made with those options also helps. Back when we could truly order a car, most cars can be broken down by options and colors to be one of a few made like it. But with most of todays registry's those are only cars seen by who runs the registry and many more may be hidden across the country. We all know people who have cars stashed.
